Ocean Alexander reveals first 35m model in new Puro series

Taiwanese shipyard Ocean Alexander has revealed the first 35 metre model in its all-new Puro series during the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show 2022.

Also known as 35P, the first three units in the series are already under construction with hull one set to debut at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in 2023.

The tri-deck motor yacht will be built in GRP and features design by Italian designer Giorgio Cassetta, working in collaboration with Andrea Agrusta of Italian engineering firm NavalHEAD. This is the first time Giorgio Cassetta and Ocean Alexander have worked on a project together.

Speaking about his partnership with the Puro line, Cassetta said that Ocean Alexander had "heritage" in its creation of "high, reliability, ocean-going vessels" that can capably cruise in inclement weather. "I wanted that to come through any new design," he explained during a press event during the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show 2022. "I wanted to do a beautiful boat that speaks [Ocean Alexander's] language, that caters to what they do best."

With this in mind, the 35P will be focused on stability and seaworthiness, with a "tall and powerful" look, according to Cassetta. This is achieved with the help of an uninterrupted 11-metre upper deck running from bow to stern, which shades the main deck cockpit completely and creates the illusion of a longer and "slicker" boat.

Meanwhile, the interior of the upper deck is a single space that houses both the wheelhouse and lounge area, with glass that can be blacked out to create privacy if required. This space also benefits from walkaround decks that ensure maximum accessibility to owners and guests.

Elsewhere, the 35P will have around 56 square metres of sundeck space and 18.5 square metres dedicated to the beach club, which can also be converted into a garage.

Other key numbers include a beam of 7.4 metres, a gross tonnage of 273 GT and a draft of 2.1 metres. The line is expected to be fitted with twin MAN 2000 HP engines as standard, allowing a top speed of 24 knots which can be increased to 27 if the buyer opts for 2600 engines.

There is a total of five cabins on board, comprising four lower deck guest cabins and an owner’s on the main deck. Crew quarters are forward on the lower deck – two bunk cabins plus the captain’s cabin.
