Pendennis Sailing Yacht Halekai Completes Sea Trials

29 October 2020 • Written by Miranda Blazeby

The newly launched Pendennis sailing yacht Halekai has completed sea trials and is setting sail for the Mediterranean.

The 38.8 metre yacht was launched by Falmouth-based shipyard Pendennis, as the fourth hull in the Hoek-designed Truly Classic 128 sailing yacht range. Her name Halekai means “home on the sea.”

Classically styled, Halekai was designed inside and out by Hoek Design Naval Architects, with MCM acting as the owner’s representative.

She features a classic hull shape and modern underwater configuration, and was built by the same team that delivered the Truly Classic sailing yacht Vijonara last year.

The interior décor meanwhile, which is inspired by the history and culture of Hawaii, was penned by New York studio Ken Fulk Inc.

Speaking about the project, Andre Hoek previously said: “We are proud to be involved in this project for a repeat client who previously owned a smaller yacht in the truly classic range. The great experience working with Pendennis on Vijonara has definitely had an influence in the decision to build again with them.”
