Posterity: 72m superyacht concept with glass owner's cabin revealed

10 March 2022 • Written by Tom McGhie

Designer Jay Aberdoni has revealed a 72 metre superyacht concept that comes with a dedicated, all-glass owner’s suite on the upper deck.

Named Posterity, the minimalist project deploys large open-plan spaces, drop-down balconies and glass bulwarks to create a flowing effect onboard.

Speaking about the design, Aberdoni said: “My view of a superyacht is that it is a house to be lived in. If a yacht goes to a beautiful location, it is better to have unobstructed views.”

Amenities abound on Posterity, most notably the infinity pool on the foredeck. Aside from three sun loungers, the remainder of the foredeck’s space is left totally “clean,” in keeping with the rest of the design. The owner’s suite is located aft, complete with electric glass doors with steps onto a private terrace.

The sundeck features a Jacuzzi forward of a dining table for twelve, with a sunbathing lounge aft. Elsewhere, the main deck hosts accommodation for up to 12 guests in six cabins that sit forward of a main saloon with ample comfortable seating. Crew quarters are located on the lower deck and house a team of 14.

The main deck’s stand out feature is the observatory library that sits behind a glass wall and leads up to a mezzanine floor via a spiral staircase. “The library is undoubtedly the special place of the yacht,” said Aberdoni.

Although Posterity is Aberdoni’s first published concept, the designer is no stranger to the industry having spent over a decade working for studios such as Ker Yacht Design, Lobanov Design and, most recently, Alberto Mancini Yacht Design.
