26 June 2020 • Written by Miranda Blazeby

The first Sanlorenzo 62 Steel has been launched at the Italian shipyard in La Spezia.

The launch marks the first of three 62 Steel units sold and under construction. The second hull is slated for delivery in April 2021 and the third at the start of 2023. The model was initially set to debut at the Monaco Yacht Show before the show organisers announced this year's edition would be postponed.

The beach club

The 61.5 metre steel and aluminium superyacht features an “elegant, timeless design” and combines an “innovative layout” with “advanced technologies,” according to the yard.

Spread across five decks, the 62 Steel has a massive 1,200GT interior coupled with an 11.9 metre beam. Key features on board include the spacious owner’s apartment, which comprises 210 square metres of living space on the upper deck. A total of 97 square metres of indoor space is spread across the studio, two bathrooms and a walk-in dressing room. The remaining space is outdoors at the bow of the upper owner’s deck.

The owner's cabin

Elsewhere, the living area on the main deck leads into an indoor dining room for 16 people. Aft of this area is an outdoor living space and swimming pool, which includes a sliding roof that transforms into a sundeck of eight metres. Meanwhile, the beach club is located on the lower deck and features lounge areas, a bar, fitness space and hammam.

The main deck

The first 62 Steel has been designed in-house by Sanlorenzo, with Francesco Paszkowski and Margherita Casprini handling the interiors.

Accommodation is for a total of 12 guests and 14 crew while power comes from a pair of CAT 3512C engines for a top speed of 16.5 knots.
