Dutch design studio Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design has unveiled a new 118-metre superyacht concept for this year's Monaco Yacht Show. The yacht, known as Fusion, is said to be the "world’s largest full-length trimaran concept" - measuring 30 metres wide with three side-by-side hulls running 110 metres.
According to the designers, Fusion has been developed to "unite two seemingly different worlds within one architecture": one being culture and wellbeing and the other sports and exploration. Characterising the yacht are "exceptionally generous" 8,200GT interiors, an extensive array of amenities and a total exterior deck space of 3,340 square metres.
Sharp, taut lines, geometric shapes aft and a low superstructure define the yacht – presented in a metallic shade of green with rectangular glazing cut-outs – chosen to create a "monumental presence that sets it apart from its nautical peers".
Fusion's defining long lines culminate at the stern, where the centre hull opens to reveal a concealed lower-deck beach club with direct water access. From here, protected steps from both side hulls lead up to the main deck above and an 834-square-metre tender, craft and vehicle deck. Heading up further still, there is the upper deck with its pool terrace, helicopter landing zones and an outdoor sports and gatherings zone. Crowning the yacht is the owner's deck, complete with the wheelhouse and private owner's residence (with a secluded terrace) aft.
Described as the "architectural heart" of Fusion is the grand central lobby staircase, which rises through the three upper decks and splits into different areas to connect the forward and aft spaces. The steps are centred around a freestanding art installation – chosen to embody the concept of fusion, with internally illuminated glass and pieces of handcrafted natural stone.
A second art installation is positioned on the main deck behind the lift; spanning the full 2.6-metre interior height, the piece is formed from solid cast-glass sheets to capture the look of an eruption of water, frozen in time.
Away from the central lobby on the main deck lies a central cinema for over 20 guests. Accessible through an eight-metre-wide corridor decorated with artwork, the cinema features a 16-square-metre video wall, with floor-to-ceiling glass façades that overlook the tender and vehicle deck – illuminated via the glass-bottomed 8.2-by-12.5-metre pool of the upper deck above – outside. Aside from movie days or nights, the cinema also doubles as a gathering and briefing space for expeditions and offshore excursions.
Above, the upper deck and adjoining pool terrace are described as the focal point for convivial living on board. Guests can enjoy gourmet dining at the interior 18-seater dining table, informal lunches outside, or simply sunbathing and pool parties with friends, accompanied by two natural stone bars seating ten.
Forward on the same deck lies a large gym and health centre, with a counter-current pool, a variety of gym equipment, treatment rooms for massage and physiotherapy and lounge seating for relaxation.
Towards the bow, a large sliding façade opens directly onto a sheltered platform for yoga (among other uses), while further forward there is the large foredeck, described as the "playdeck". Designed to be flexible, this area can host a helicopter or VTOL, or, when not in use, a full-size tennis court or an expansive open-air space for live music, DJ performances and "immersive art festivals".
Above the upper deck is the owner's residence, designed for complete serenity with a minimalist finish. The area is home to a central master suite with a skylight above a custom-designed king-sized bed, his-and-hers bathrooms and dressing rooms, an adjoining private lounge and desk area and a 100-square-metre exterior deck.
The yacht's guest cabins are located on the main deck, comprising two VIP suites and six cabins, each organised around a central zone incorporating a dressing area, bathroom and bed, with passageways on both sides and private loggias with glass transoms. Two of the VIP rooms also feature a private sauna.
Closer to the water, in the central hull, lies the yacht's spa and wellness centre, described by the studio as "exceptional in scale even among the world’s largest superyachts". At its centre there is a circular inner "sanctuary", where daybeds are arranged around a Foucault pendulum, and the space is decorated with subdued lighting, semi-transparent latticework and backlit walls.
Here, an eight-metre-wide central corridor leads through a reception lounge with a shallow water feature, arriving at a host of amenities, including a hammam, sauna, plunge pool, beauty and massage rooms, showers and changing rooms.
Throughout Fusion, the interior palette is "pure and minimal", where natural stone has been contrasted against smoked glass and delicate latticework, and transforming geometric forms define each area - another expression by the studio as an interpretation of fusion.
49 crew are accommodated on board, while the full list of toys and tenders includes four 15-metre tenders, dive equipment, water toys and expedition vehicles.
"Fusion is not a standard yacht with extra stabilisers," explained studio founder and principal designer, Sander J. Sinot. "Three near-full-length hulls come together as one architecture, and that changes what is possible aboard a yacht of this size. Our owners no longer want to choose between culture and adventure, between serenity and action. Fusion is designed so they don’t have to. The essence of Fusion is freedom: the freedom not to choose between different ways of living, but to embrace them all."
Fusion is presented as a ready-to-build, fully operational concept. At last year's show, the studio unveiled the 141-metre superyacht concept Aura.
