Southern Wind Shipyard launches superyacht Mrs Marietta Cube

31 October 2011 • Written by Raphael Montigneaux

The successful Southern Wind 100 series has a new member: the 13th hull was launched few days ago in Cape Town, South Africa. Named Mrs Marietta Cube, the 30.2 metre sailing yacht is the fourth raised saloon (RS) version and has been designed by Farr Yacht Design and Nauta Design.

Built in composite, the SW 100 RS is RINA classed and MCA compliant. She accommodates eight guests and a crew of four. Her rig will allow a sail area of 424 square metres, and when winds are light, she can rely on a single Cummins QSB 5.9 MCD engine of 305hp.

Mrs Marietta Cube will be delivered soon after the usual sea trials.

Her successor, the Southern Wind 102, will be launched in spring 2012.
