Three Venetian marinas have joined forces to encourage more superyachts to visit the city ahead of the 2019 Venice Boat Show.
Venice Yacht Pier, Venezia Certosa Marina and Marina Santelena used the occasion of the Boot Dusseldorf boat show to launch the Venice Superyacht Destination initiative.
The three marinas, which manage superyacht moorings in the historic city, joined together to promote Venice as an ideal location for superyachts.
The group’s press conference, which was attended by Venetian mayor Luigi Brugnaro, aimed to attract more superyacht owners to visit the city and promoted the Venice Boat Show, which will take place from June 18-23.
It hopes to revive the nautical history of the city and build on recent marine events, such as the 50th anniversary of the Ferretti Group last year.
It emphasised the transport links of the city’s two airports and train station, year-round programme of cultural events and natural beauty of the iconic lagoon.
Alberto Sonino, of VdV, parent company of Venezia Certosa Marina said that launching at Boot Dusseldorf was “the first step of a territorial marketing project that aims to promote the presence of superyachts in Venice, not only during the glamorous events in the city but throughout the year.”
Chairman of Marina Santelena Stefano Costantini added: “With the Venice Superyacht Destination initiative, the marinas of the Venetian historic centre present a united front for the first time to communicate that our three companies are able to host any type of vessel.”
