Weaver Boat Works flagship yacht DC97 undergoes technical launch

American sportsfish specialist Weaver Boat Works has revealed its in-build 29.56 metre flagship yacht has been technically launched and named 18 Reeler.

The sportsfish yacht has been built with an enclosed bridge. The naval architecture and exterior design was contributed by Donald L. Blount and the completed project is due to be delivered before the end of the year.

Vital statistics include a 7.21 metre beam and a maximum draught of 1.9 metres — ideal for shallow waters cruising in the Bahamas and the Caribbean.

Power will come from a pair of 2,600hp MTU 16V2000 engines that should give the Weaver DC97 a sporty turn of speed out on the open water to match her sleek styling. Meanwhile, the total fuel capacity of 15,900 litres means that extended cruising is very much on the cards.

The large aft cockpit will feature a central staircase leading into the saloon, with plenty of storage space for live bait wells and fishing rods either side.

No further details have been divulged at this stage but in-build pictures of the interior suggest a full-beam master suite amidships and a double VIP cabin in the bow.

Weaver Boat Works uses a cold-molded timber construction method to build its hulls in Tracy's Landing, Maryland, and last year delivered the 27.43 metre Weaver 90 CR yacht J’s At Sea.
