A 110 metre sports-focused trimaran concept has been revealed by superyacht designer Ollie Clarke, a 2019 finalist of BOAT’s Young Designer of the Year Award.

The 110m catamaran concept was designed to host sporting events

The exterior of the concept is characterised by the large glass and aluminium superstructure at the centre of the boat, which is described by Clarke as the "central hub".

During the day, this area is used for rock climbing thanks to its angled inboard surfaces, but can transform into a observation gallery for viewing the night sky.

The huge glass and aluminium superstructure forms the "central hub" of the design

Speaking about the design, Clarke said: “I wanted to keep the profile both architectural and clean. The open design allows for maximum unobstructed views of the events.”

The main deck forward hosts a bar, main saloon and dining area, with a VIP floor for athletes and guests sitting above. Elsewhere, the beach club features a glass-bottomed swimming pool alongside sun loungers and a "zen garden".

Activities such as rock-climbing are possible on the interior's angled surfaces

X3 is accompanied by a dedicated 50 metre “support vessel” named X2, which is designed to host spectator guests during sporting events on X3. The smaller vessel features an additional VIP viewing area, as well as tenders to transport guests to and from the X3.

The concept forms a base for athletes and sponsors

Elsewhere, the X3’s customisable foredeck is big enough to host a full-size tennis court but has been intentionally left bare by the designer for owner customisation.

“A skate park, a basketball court or a stage for a concert are just some of the ways you can utilise this space,” said Clarke.

Accommodation on the starboard hull sleeps 24 guests, providing “a base for athletes, guests and sponsors.” Meanwhile, crew quarters are found on then lower deck of the main hull.

Power comes from an E-hybrid propulsion system, for an estimated top speed of 25 knots and a cruising speed of 13 knots.
