On-Water Workouts: Standout superyacht gyms
Vijonara's understated gym
The last thing you might expect to find on board the teak decked, 38.8 metre sloop rigged sailing yacht Vijonara are the superyacht features of swimming pools, Jacuzzis and gyms that have become commonplace on many motor yachts. However, this Hoek Truly Classic yacht has a few surprises up her sleeve and keeps a modest gym down below. Hoek worked together with the owners to design a gym convertible into a single cabin forward of the owners' suite.
Iron Man’s superhero inspired gym
The whole upper deck on this 38 metre Benetti Vivace 125 superyacht is dedicated to the gym. It has state-of-the art equipment by Technogym, including a cross-trainer and a treadmill, as well as a rubber floor to aid with soundproofing. It’s a truly impressive workout space — and with a name like Iron Man, what else would you expect?
RH3’s gym with a view
When the owner of RH3 set about rebuilding this 40 metre RMK Marine explorer yacht, he paid particular attention to the location of the gym. Situated in the skylounge, the gym takes pride of place on RH3, with two large windows in front of the exercise bikes so guests can enjoy a great view of rolling seascapes as they work out. This comfortable and inviting space features warming woodwork that reinterprets the ribbed expression of rope cladding.
Larry Ellison's gym on Enigma
Grace E's light-filled superyacht gym
Launched in 2014, the Perini Navi-Picchiotti built 73 metre motor yacht Grace E wowed with her upper deck dedicated to wellness with a superyacht gym, spa and beauty salon. This yacht's gym gives virtuous guests the best views on board, with a massive upper-deck gym wrapped in full-height windows. The windows and skylights both let in plenty of natural light as well creating a welcoming space.
Nirvana's superyacht gym features high ceilings
Surprisingly, one of the things most often overlooked on superyacht gym design is having enough headroom to use the equipment. This is solved in the gym aboard Oceanco yacht Nirvana. The 85 square metre space cleverly has a treadmill set into the deck for extra headroom, while many reflective surfaces make the space seem bigger and reflect back the beautiful gym bunnies enjoying a training session.
