Book it now: The Kata Rocks Superyacht Rendezvous 2018

12 November 2018

Yachts, owners and industry figures are heading to Thailand to experience the best of South East Asia at the Kata Rocks Superyacht Rendezvous 2018...

The final touches are being made to the itinerary of the third annual Kata Rocks Superyacht Rendezvous, which uses the stunning backdrop of Phuket to raise the profile of Thailand as an exciting destination for superyachts.

The four-day event, being held this year from 6 to 9 December, aims to further develop Phuket’s reputation as the region’s premier yachting playground and to present it as a viable and attractive alternative to the Med and Caribbean.

This year, a fleet of a dozen elite yachts over 24 metres will attend the event

As one of the fastest-growing superyacht gatherings of its kind in South East Asia, the rendezvous has been growing in standing since its inaugural event, launched by the property investment company Infinite Luxury in 2016. Last year’s edition attracted 16 superyachts and six yachts to Phuket, including 68 metre Feadship Lady Christine, 53 metre phinisi Zen and 51 metre Northern Sun. This year a fleet of a dozen elite yachts over 24 metres that are based in or are visiting the region will attend.

The host venue is the Kata Rocks resort, which fittingly features 34 “superyacht-inspired” palatial Sky Pool Villas, and villa owners will be among the guests at the invitation-only rendezvous, along with superyacht owners and industry professionals. Many leading names from the superyacht world will attend, including Benetti, Burgess, Camper & Nicholsons, Lee Marine, Northrop & Johnson, Royal Huisman, Princess Yachts and Seal Superyachts.

This year will also see Oceanco join as an event sponsor and host an exclusive owner's dinner in one of the Kata Rocks pool villas. “Oceanco is pleased to be joining the Kata Rocks Superyacht Rendezvous for the first time," said group marketing manager Paris Baloumis. "Oceanco yacht owners are known to cruise extensively aboard their yachts and Thailand has become an increasingly popular destination for them. The exotic seascape, fascinating culture, and excellent superyacht facilities make this part of the world extremely appealing."

Owners and guests at a private beach barbecue at the Surin Phuket

Alongside the Oceanco owner's dinner, a varied social programme will be available to guests, ranging from experiencing the thrills of the King’s Cup Regatta to trialling the latest superyacht toys and enjoying a private beach barbecue at the Surin Phuket. Benetti will also be hosting a superyacht captain's dinner with Hemisphere Monaco as well as a champagne media breakfast while Camper & Nicholsons and Royal Huisman will also be holding a cocktail party.

“We are thrilled that guests and superyacht owners enjoy the bespoke activities, glamorous parties and social events,” says Richard Pope, CEO of Infinite Luxury. “The KRSR is fast becoming the must-attend event on the Asian yachting calendar.”
