As travel restrictions gradually ease, each week BOAT presents a new destination to visit. This week it's the Spa at Windjammer Landing, St Lucia...
Where is it?
Just a few steps up from the warm Caribbean Sea waters and curved beach of Labrelotte Bay in north-west St Lucia, within the lushly landscaped Windjammer Landing resort.
Why the hype?
Director Alex Danila, former pro basketball player for Romania, is bringing his experience of injury and recovery to reshape the spa as a holistic wellness centre. Eleven massages range from Thai poultice to magnesium-replenishing, while the new facials menu offers 15 choices. Focus is on organic, animal-friendly products, and the Caribbean Blue body oils used for massage are made from ingredients farmed by organic practitioners in St Lucia.
What to have?
After a friendly welcome to the light-filled rotunda reception, refresh with a chilled fermented lemon and soursop leaf shot in the zen-like relaxation room. Follow your masseuse – ask for Herbert – to one of six rooms named after Lucian beaches for either 80 or 50 minutes of the signature massage: a full-body, soothing rotation of hot stone, rolled bamboo and manual therapy. Rehydrate afterwards with water sipped directly from a coconut harvested from the grounds surrounding the spa.
Best by boat
IGY Rodney Bay Marina and Marigot Bay Marina, which are only a few miles along the coast in either direction, accept yachts up to 85m.
