Swiss designer Kurt Merki Jr has revealed a new, 86.5-metre concept known as Zeitgeist, with full details to be released at this year's Monaco Yacht Show. The concept follows on from an earlier design, the 80-metre Symbiosis, which Merki Jr shared with BOAT International in 2022.
"We named our concept Zeitgeist to reflect next-generation yacht owners who realise the importance of reducing their impact on the environment now and for future generations," explained Merki Jr, CEO and head designer at Studio KMJ GmbH.
To this end, Zeitgeist is designed with a series of eco-minded features, including three wind turbines and more than 800 square metres of solar roofing to supplement onboard energy resources. Another key feature is the landing pad on the bow, which has been designed to accommodate e-VTOL (electric vertical take-off and landing) crafts.
Accommodation is across six cabins, including an owner's suite attached to an 80-square-metre owner's terrace. The lower deck has a fully automated 20 square metre vertical nursery, where the chef can grow herbs and vegetables. Interior renderings are undisclosed but are said to include cactus leather by Desserto and "C02-neutral" concrete furniture by Dade Design, created by adding plant-based carbon into the concrete.
On the leisure side, Zeitgeist benefits from an al fresco dining terrace with seating for 12, a 10-metre infinity pool flanked by sunpads and a beach club.
