Nina Jensen, CEO of REV Ocean has been announced as one of the speakers at the Explorer Yachts Summit at the Yacht Club de Monaco on 13 November 2024.
The 195-metre ocean-saving expedition vessel has been feverishly covered in the press. Equipped with some of the most sophisticated facilities on board for cutting-edge ocean science, REV Ocean also offers charters, allowing travellers to explore the world’s most remote corners, meet scientists, guides and world-renowned researchers, and immerse themselves in ocean conservation.
In this illuminating talk, Nina Jensen will reveal the inside story behind this record-breaking project and offer a tantalising glimpse into the story behind its mission, design and build.
With a capacity of 36 crew and 54 scientists, Jensen has previously dubbed REV Ocean as a "science vessel on steroids". The vessel will have advanced oceanography equipment covering the entire marine ecosystem, from coastal zones to abyssal depths and polar regions to the tropics. Among the many state-of-the-art facilities on board, there will be space for a dedicated submarine hangar, SCUBA compressors, a conference centre and science laboratories. A 3D printing facility and onboard metal shop will allow the team to be relatively self-sufficient, creating spare parts while on missions.
Although it will not be considered a fully-fledged superyacht, the vessel has been developed in collaboration with leading designer Espen Øino, meaning when in charter mode, REV Ocean guests will be able to enjoy all the modern comforts and spacious interiors expected on a superyacht charter.
