Stephen Bayley to chair the 2016 Superyacht Design Symposium

Stephen Bayley to chair the 2016 Superyacht Design Symposium

Boat International Media is delighted to announce that the 8th annual Superyacht Design Symposium will be chaired by Stephen Bayley, one of the world's best-known commentators on design. With Terence Conran he created London's influential Design Museum and over the past thirty or so years his articles and books have helped frame the modern notion of "design".

Bayley said: “The Superyacht Design Symposium will be a fascinating market of ideas. When I see a superyacht, I do not just see a spectacular boat, but a floating laboratory where taste and technology are in busy competition. We'll bring together some of the most interesting personalities from design, architecture, fashion and media to debate the superyacht's future. I've always believed the best designers are the ones with most ideas and information. That applies to clients too. The Symposium will float an armada of clever opinion and privileged insights”.

Sacha Bonsor, Editorial Director of Boat International, added: “Boat International Media is hugely excited to welcome Stephen to the team. We believe that having a world-class, influential design figure chair the debates will mean that we can embrace designers from the wider luxury industry and attract new audiences.”

Next year’s event, running from February 21-23, will return to the stunning village of Kitzbuhel in the Tyrolean Alps, where participants are able to take advantage of a famous social programme alongside the stimulating and challenging debates, As well as a ski cup, delegates will be able to network with industry leaders at a number of cocktail receptions and dinners.
