The task for the Young Designer of the Year Award 2025

11 June 2024 • Written by Hannah Rankine

The Young Designer of the Year Award, sponsored by Feadship, celebrates the original concepts of student and trainee yacht designers all over the world. The winner will receive critical acclaim in front of an international audience of superyacht owners, designers and industry leaders.

The task

This year, the judges invite students to envision themselves as recent graduates working at Feadship. Your task is to design a yacht for an existing Feadship owner who wants to explore beyond the Mediterranean. This owner seeks a new yacht capable of navigating remote regions and high-latitude areas, such as the Northwest Passage. Additionally, the client wishes to support ocean conservation by accommodating scientists on board during these remote cruises. As such, the yacht must be a highly seaworthy, long-range, helicopter-carrying expedition vessel equipped with research facilities. At the same time, it must maintain the comfort and luxury synonymous with the Feadship brand. With this challenging set of requirements, can you meet the client’s brief?
