The Best Men's Fragrances For 2020
by Kelly Sullivan
Choosing the right scent from the haystack of options out there is no easy feat. There's a plethora of different men's fragrances from limited edition scents to cult classics and new releases, it can be hard to see the Oud for the trees (we're not even sorry for that one). It should come as no surprise that preferences change depending on the season. Light, refreshing scents aren't always what you fancy during the colder winter months.
How to Choose the Right Scent
If you already have a firm favourite you buy repeatedly, then you're in a strong starting position to find another signature scent. Use your favourite smells - be it from previous fragrances or your favourite moisturiser or shampoo - as your starting block to find the scents that you connect best with.
If you're after something that will carry you from day to night, you want a product with longevity, more specifically an Eau de Parfum (EDP). EDP will last for up to eight hours as it's a more concentrated formula with a more potent scent profile. The alternative is Eau de Toilette (EDT), a slightly diluted formula which will require topping up as you go as it tends to last around four hours or so. Lastly, there's cologne, which has the shortest lifespan of them all, lasting roughly two hours for short, punchy bursts of fragrance.
Find you perfect scent from our pick of the best men's fragrances for 2020 below.
Creed Aventus is a complex scent that will please (and suit) any wearer. With a blend of some of the finest ingredients and 250 years of expert craftmanship behind it, it should always be considered as a best men's fragrance. Timeless, but with a modern twist, Creed Aventus oozes masculinity and has become the Alexander The Great of scents (it was designed in homage to him, after all).

Penhaligon's The Tragedy of Lord George EDP
The Tragedy of Lord George is part of the Penhaligon's Portraits collection, behind each fragrance is a story which helps to shape the narrative of the fragrance and bring the scent profile to life.
Our favourite, the Lord George, is easy to wear, with delicate yet rich notes that don't overpower. This Eau de Parfum is one that has longevity and complexity with enticing, woody and earthy notes and a hint of sweetness to balance.

Cartier Declaration EDP
This robust scent carries all the qualities of a classic, masculine Eau de Parfum. The initial top notes are quite sweet (expect citrus) as it mellows quickly into a blend of spices, wood, bergamot and leather. It has longevity and a small spritz has plenty of impact - a little goes a long way with Cartier's Declaration.

Dior Sauvage Parfum
For a scent with plenty of pizzazz and character, we suggest Dior Sauvage Parfum, a heady fragrance with top notes of mandarin and a trail of leather and spice. As the latest in the Sauvage collection, this fragrance softens beautifully and will carry you from day-to-night suitably, with one small spritz in the early evening.
