Decca Luxe: The luxury brand bringing music to life

8 May 2018

Founded on the ethos that music should be exalted as a creative form on par with fine art and literature, Decca Luxe, an offshoot of British label Decca Records and part of the Universal Music Group, is celebrating the world’s greatest musicians with its Masterpieces collection.

Bringing together the timeless artists represented by the label, including Luciano Pavarotti and the Rolling stones, with elegant craftsmanship, fine design and the latest sound technology, these unique music boxes are true collector’s items for music aficionados.

For its first Masterpiece, Luciano Pavarotti Life in Art, Decca Luxe has collaborated with British furniture designer Linley to create a stunning wooden marquetry art case inspired by Pavarotti’s private passion for painting. Inside, a specially-built music player contains unheard recordings of Pavarotti’s most famous performances, taken from newly-discovered tapes in Decca’s archive and mixed in immersive, three-dimensional sound, offering an unbeatable audio experience for fans of the famous opera singer. This will be accompanied by Pavarotti’s entire back catalogue recorded with Decca, totalling 130 hours of pristine audio.

The Life in Art Masterpiece will contain 130 hours of music from Pavarotti

The art case, like the music, is also a true work of art created in fume figured eucalyptus with intricate marquetry inspired by Pavarotti’s own oil paintings of Venice. Oil paints, brushes and canvas can all be found inside, along with a personalised note from the Pavarotti family, to incite and enable artistic expression from the case’s owner.

Offered as a limited edition run of 10 pieces, a portion of proceeds from the Life in Art Masterpiece will be donated to aid the work of the Fondazione Luciano Pavarotti supporting aspiring young musicians.
