Rolex Cosmograph Daytona Everose

Launched in 1963 as the plain Cosmograph, the world’s best-loved driver’s watch became the Cosmograph Daytona two years later after Rolex USA requested that the name ‘Daytona’ be inscribed on the dial of American market models in tribute to the celebrated Daytona 500 car race. The watch is best known, however, for its associations with the late Hollywood star Paul Newman who began wearing one after taking up motor racing in the 1970s. The ultimate version of the modern-day Cosmograph Daytona is the model pictured here, which has a case and bracelet made from the fade-proof ‘Everose’ rose gold patented by Rolex.
