Fine Swiss watchmaker Ulysse Nardin has celebrated its long-standing connection with the sea with a new limited edition version of its Diver Chronograph Hammerhead Shark.
Measuring in at a huge 44mm, this quintessential diving instrument has been made even more powerful with a self-winding calibre UN-150 movement with silicium escapement and balance soring – a first for the popular Diver collection.
Inspired by the hammerhead shark – which possesses the sharpest sensory accuracy of all shark species and is therefore an outstanding natural navigator – each timepiece bears a likeness of the animal both on the strap and watch face.
Available in a 99 piece 18 karat rose gold version and a stainless steel limited edition of 300, both timepieces feature a nautical colour scheme with a deep blue dial and red and white accents. The dial also features numerous gliding hammerhead sharks while the bezel is etched with Ulysse Nardin’s signature wave pattern reinforcing the timepiece’s relationship with classic sailing watch the Marine Diver.
Aesthetics aside, the Diver Chronograph Hammerhead Shark is also technically impressive with a 48 hour power reserve, unidirectional bezel, water resistance to 300 metres and a sapphire crystal caseback. Further complications include a small seconds counter, 30 minute counter, 12 hour counter and date window.
The Diver Chronograph Hammerhead Shark is the latest in a number of the best limited edition watches recently launched by Ulysse Nardin. In 2015 the brand launched special versions of both its Anchor Tourbillon and Black Sea timepieces as well as creating commemorative pieces to mark the watchmaker’s relationship with America’s Cup team Artemis Racing and the Monaco Yacht Show.
