6 June 2022• Written by Tom McGhie

The 45 metre Cheoy Lee motor yacht Dorothea III has had a price drop of $1,000,000, listed for sale by Merle Wood & Associates. The owner is accepting bitcoin as payment, as well as the partial trade of a smaller yacht, aircraft or real estate.

Penned by designer Ron Holland, Dorothea III was built with a steel hull and GRP superstructure by Chinese yard Cheoy Lee and delivered in 2007. She was constructed with adventure in mind and has successfully cruised over 170,000 miles in the past eight years, scooping the Voyagers Award at the 2020 World Superyacht Awards following a 20-month circumnavigation.

Dorothea III is now asking $13,450,000

The décor is contemporary with horizontally banded gloss-finished Macassar ebony making up much of the panelling and built-in furnishings. Window borders are unintrusive so as not to hinder guests' views, while the lighting design successfully creates a "night-time ambience."

She sleeps up to 10 guests in five cabins, comprising a master suite on the bridge deck, a VIP suite, double, twin and a gym easily converted back to a guest cabin. All cabins have entertainment centres and en suite bathroom facilities while the crew quarters sleep eight staff aboard this yacht for sale.

Her top speed is 13 knots and she boasts a maximum cruising range of 6,000 nautical miles at 10 knots with power coming from a single 1,936hp Caterpillar 3512-B diesel engine. For added safety and comfort, she is fitted with Naiad zero speed stabilisers.

Dorothea III is now asking $13,450,000.
