HMY Yacht Sales has signalled a change in direction as it becomes Americas representative for Royal Balk Shipyard and Arcadia Yachts, as well as opening a superyacht division.
The US brokerage firm will act for the historic Dutch superyacht yard Royal Balk (for refit or custom construction) and the Italian builder Arcadia (for production and semi-custom) throughout North America, Central America, the Caribbean Basin and South America.
HMY, which has previously specialised in high-powered sportsfishermen, has also announced that it will open a dedicated superyacht department, HMY Super Yachts. The firm says the move was a reaction to the evolving interests of its clients, who are more and more interested in cruising and larger yachts.
HMY Super Yachts will employ the most senior brokers in the company and focus on brokerage and new construction. It will be managed from HMY’s Palm Beach office.
Continuing the theme, HMY has recently opened an office in Monaco, claiming a stake in the European capital of superyachting. This 11th office will be the company’s first international brokerage, charter and sales office.
‘We have increased our market share in cruising boats, charter yachts and superyachts dramatically,’ says Tom Sanders, general manager of HMY Yachts. ‘Since the Mediterranean is a crucial location for these larger vessels this is a strategic move for us.’
