Large superyacht brokers form new trade organisation

18 April 2012 • Written by Malcolm MacLean

Hein Velema, CEO at Fraser Yachts, tells me that five leading brokerage houses are in the process of formalising a new trade association.

Called the Large Yacht Brokers Association (LYBrA), the initial members are Fraser Yachts, Burgess, Edmiston & Company, Ocean Independence and Camper and Nicholsons International and applications for membership are welcome.

Having initially met as an informal forum to discuss industry issues such as money laundering, new anti-bribery laws, taxation and boat shows, the five companies now intend to act as one voice for the superyacht industry.

The inaugural President is Jonathan Beckett, CEO of Burgess, and the Secretary-General is Eric Blair of The Eric Blair Network in Monaco.
