The Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta will once again kick off the Mediterranean superyacht season in style, taking place from June 4th to 8th, 2013, and registration is now open. Organised by Boat International Media and Yacht Club Costa Smeralda (YCCS), the sixth edition of the regatta looks set to attract a fleet of the world's most notable and award-winning sailing superyachts for four days of exhilarating racing and glamorous social events.
The emerald waters of the archipelago of La Maddalena off the northern coast of Sardinia will once again be the setting for some exciting competition and Porto Cervo will welcome a diverse fleet of classic yachts and modern designs.
Event organiser Holly Lunn said "We have experienced incredibly high demand for berths at the regatta's sister event, the Loro Piana Caribbean Superyacht Regatta and Rendezvous, hosted at the YCCS Marina in Virgin Gorda, which is now at full capacity with a fleet of 30 superyachts confirmed. With the Mediterranean edition expected to prove equally popular with owners around the world, we strongly encourage yachts to register their interest in attending as soon as possible to confirm a place in the fleet."
As famous for its social programme as it is for the racing, the 2013 edition of the Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta will not disappoint. Yacht owners and crew members will come together at the Welcome Cocktail Party at YCCS on the eve of the regatta; all participants will be treated to a Pizza Party in the Piazza with live entertainment, courtesy of Sardinia Yacht Services; the Loro Piana Owners’ Dinner on the YCCS terrace promises to be a night to remember and guests will party the night away at the fabulous Phi Beach Party. As tradition dictates, the regatta will close with the prize-giving ceremony and farewell cocktails in Piazza Azzurra.
