The 43-metre classic replica sailing yacht Columbia, listed for sale with Trevor Carroll and Josh Gulbranson of Fraser, has received a $1,500,000 price reduction.
Built in steel at US yard Eastern Shipbuilding, she was delivered in 2014 as a replica of the classic Gloucester fishing schooner Columbia (delivered in 1923), to a design from W. Starling Burgess. Her brokers noted that she is a "true collector's yacht that combines history and tradition with modern shipbuilding, technologies and luxurious comfort".
The original Columbia was built as a pure fishing yacht, lacking luxury amenities such as a saloon, guest cabins or even an engine room. Her navigation equipment consisted only of a compass and a barometer. However, the replica is a different matter altogether and is fitted with state-of-the-art navigation equipment and air conditioning, among other modern conveniences.
The mahogany interior is configured for up to 12 guests in four cabins, including a master suite, a VIP cabin and two twins, all of which feature Pullman berths.
The open-plan main saloon of the yacht for sale has seating on comfortable settees to starboard and a dining area for ten guests to port, with a bar, fridge, ice maker, wine cooler and entertainment centre.
A single 587hp Caterpillar diesel engine provides Columbia with a cruising speed of 10 knots and a cruising range of 4,000 nautical miles. Her maximum speed is 13 knots.
Lying in Fort Lauderdale, Columbia is now asking $4,950,000.
