The Asia Superyacht Rendezvous will be celebrating its fourteenth anniversary this December 16-18, showcasing many of the world's most beautiful superyachts alongside the delights that Phuket has to offer.
Hosted at the chic Kata Rocks resort, an eclectic fleet of superyachts will find anchorage in the pristine waters of Kata Bay and participate in a fantastic three day programme of racing, fun on the water and glamorous shoreside events.
A diverse superyacht line-up includes the handsome vintage schooner Sunshine launched in 2003, the ‘third sister’ of the original Sunshine, built in 1900. Modern builds include the Dubois designed performance sloop Escapade. The last boat produced by Fitzroy Yachts of New Zealand, Escapade is the first yacht of her size to feature solid carbon aerofoil rigging. Designed to deliver top performance in regattas, she is sure to make an impression on the start line. The fifty metre motor yacht Northern Sun plays a major role in this year’s Rendezvous as the start boat for the sailing fleet. She will be eagerly followed by an entourage of motor yachts, including the luxurious 55 metre Samax built by Principal Sponsor Feadship, as well as Vie Sans Soucis, Titania and Moon Sand.
Heading to the warm waters of South East Asia for winter charters, the instantly-recognisable 72 metre custom motor yacht Titania, which underwent an extensive refit in 2012, will undoubtedly be an eye-catching addition to the fleet.
In addition to two days of thrilling superyacht racing, the Rendezvous social programme includes an opening night cocktail party on board superyacht Si Datu Bua, the popular ‘Feadship Challenge’ model boat building and race contest, the famed ‘Rendezvous Booty’ pirate treasure hunt and a glittering VIP Gala Dinner for superyacht owners, captains and their guests, hosted by Kata Rocks.
The fleet’s visit to the “Pearl of the Andaman” need not end there - year on year, the numbers of superyachts coming to enjoy the warm, crystal-clear waters surrounding Thailand’s largest island increases. Phuket also continues to develop to meet the ever-changing needs of the yachting fraternity, boasting many newly established gourmet restaurants and luxurious resorts and residences.
Together with Asia Superyacht Rendezvous, Phuket’s raceweek, the Phang Nga Bay Regatta - and the premier Asian regatta - , the Kings Cup all permanent fixtures on the Asian yachting calendar, the island's yachting future is bright!
Boat International Media is delighted to continue its support as the event's International Media Sponsor alongside longstanding Principle Sponsor, Feadship Royal Dutch Shipyards.
