AB Yachts, a brand of Next Yacht Group, has announced the sale of the first hull in its new AB125 series.
The AB125 is an evolution of the shipyard’s 36.8-metre AB120 series, launched in March of this year. With a beam of 7.5 metres, her sporty profile belies an impressive internal volume which AB Yachts claims will be “even more generous” than the 220GT AB120.
Key to the AB125’s design is its convertible onboard space. The sliding doors of the salon, once open, connect the interiors and exteriors and integrate the salon, aft cockpit and beach area into one 140-square-metre area.
Interiors have been customised by Next Yacht Group’s Centro Stile per the owner’s specifications, resulting in a “truly one-of-a-kind vessel”, according to the shipyard. While full details have not been disclosed, the unit will have 360-degree ocean views thanks to the superstructure’s floor-to-ceiling windows, with the salon featuring glazed surfaces of over 50 square metres. AB Yachts also promises a spacious fly for convivial gatherings, able to be customised to the owner’s discretion.
Like the AB120, the cockpit is home to a sea-view pool, uncovered on demand, while the addition of two aft bulwarks expands the beach area further, transforming it into a “terrace on the sea”.
Another notable design feature is the aft garage’s float-in system and functional forward garage which allows for greater ease when launching and hauling tenders and water toys. The AB125 has stowing capacity for a 6.3-metre tender.
The AB125 will be able to reach a top speed of over 40 knots, much like her predecessor AB120. With a draught of 1.4 metres, she can also navigate incredibly shallow ports and anchorages, such as the Bahamas and the Caribbean.
“We are particularly proud of this sale,” says Next Yacht Group head of sales, Giacomo Benelli. “Our challenge is to deliver yachts that are not simply eye-catching and high performing, but also original, distinctive and increasingly exciting. And the market is responding.”
The news of this sale comes before the model is officially introduced to the market. Three more yachts are scheduled to be delivered by AB Yachts in 2023, including two AB100 units and an AB80.
