ALVA Yachts sells second 28m Ocean Eco 90 catamaran

22 November 2022

German-headquartered shipyard ALVA Yachts has sold the second unit in its flagship 27.5 metre Ocean Eco 90 Open catamaran series.

Due to hit the water at the end of 2024, the model features an open flybridge configuration and is fitted with solar panels that provide electric propulsion without compromising its transatlantic range.

A beam of 14 metres gives owners and guests plenty of space to make use of, with features including a light-drenched saloon on the main deck complete with a lounge, dining area for ten and an elegant bar. From here, guests can easily access the exterior deck, where there is a casual seating area for eight.

From the main deck, guests can easily access the water via twin bathing platforms. Elsewhere, the yacht has an open flybridge and helm station as well as a sky lounge, cocktail bar and Jacuzzi on the top deck. There is an alternative social area on the foredeck, which is equipped with two separate seating arrangements and oversized sunbeds.

Accommodation is split across four cabins on the lower deck, including a large owner's cabin on the starboard side, which includes an unfolding terrace, a private study and walk-in wardrobe which connects to an en suite complete with his and hers sinks.  There are a further two cabins for crew.

In terms of technical specifications, the Ocean Eco 90 Open is powered by two 500kW electric motors, connected to a 140-360 kWh battery pack, which is powered by the yacht's 200 square metres of solar panelling and generators.  The model is also described as "fuel-cell ready" by the yard.

Milan Henn, head of design at ALVA Yachts, said the yard was "delighted" to have sold the second hull in production. "It demonstrates its popularity for the lifestyle we imagine our owners to lead," he said.

He added: "The Ocean Eco 90 breaks new ground in yacht design and cruising efficiency and is truly one of the finest examples of modern day superyacht building. Its vast open outdoor space, large open flybridge and expansive saloon have the wow factor. It’s 100 per cent electric, self-sufficient and fuel cell ready.”

The Ocean 90 Eco comes in two different versions: the enclosed "explorer" style that features on hull one and the open flybridge style that has been chosen for hull two.

Hull one is currently about to enter the outfitting stage at ALVA's Antalya shipyard and is expected to hit the water in 2023.
