Italian refit yard Amico & Co has announced that work is well underway to expand its facilities in Genoa. The new and improved superyacht hub, which has been in development since 2015, will boost the yard's capacity to accommodate more and larger superyachts. It is hoped that all new infrastructure will be completed in 2019.

The new superyacht marina will be equipped with larger superyacht berths, better crew areas and will offer contractor services. Work is also underway to better connect the marina with the nearby city.

A new 4,000 tonne ship lift capable of lifting yachts measuring up to 95 metres is also in build. The lift will also have a shore moving system capable of transferring yachts on the hard. When construction is complete, the yard will have six refit sheds for yachts measuring up to 60 metres, two covered dry docks and an 835 tonne travel lift.

Operations will start in the new superyacht marina, which will be capable of accommodating yachts measuring up to 110 metres, in November.

Chairman of the yard, Alberto Amico, said, “We are now well advanced with the yard’s major infrastructural developments, a new megayacht marina, and our proposal for a completely Italian refit experience.

“These are the three main drivers that will allow Amico and Genoa to compete on the world stage as a market leader and go-to destination for yachts over 40 metres and up to 150 metres.”
