First 40m Antonini Navi UP40 modular yacht takes shape

Fledgling builder Antonini Navi has shared new renderings of its 40 metre modular hull superyacht model UP40 as construction continues on spec.

Named UP40 for “Utility Platform 40”, the yacht is built on a 40 metre steel platform that serves as a base for three different models according to the superstructure chosen by the owner. These are a motor yacht, crossover or sport explorer.

This allows construction to begin on the hull before the owner has even decided the specific yacht configuration they would like. The yard described the decision to begin construction on-spec as a "major investment" that would reflect its “strong belief in the project”. Delivery for the first hull is scheduled for 2022.

Designed by Fulvio de Simoni in collaboration with the in-house engineering team, the project features a hull designed for maximum reliability and sea keeping.

The builder has also presented the project's redesigned stern area, which it described as "nothing less than a private beach at the water’s edge". It also revealed the yacht's asymmetrical exterior layout, with the starboard side of the main deck leading onto the forward deck and the forward deck leading onto the port side of the upper deck. The result is a "terrace overlooking the water" of more than 200 square metres.

Speaking about the design, de Simoni said: "The UP40 – Crossover project offers an excellent balance between design, efficiency and safety, enhancing spaces and volumes that accommodate a surprising amount of furniture and living areas… In this case we really can say that function enhances form."

The estimated range is 5,000 nautical miles at 10 knots, with a top speed of 14 knots and cruising speed of 12 knots.

Elsewhere, the interior layout has plenty of scope for individual customisations, from the number and size of the cabins to the smallest décor details.

It comes after Gruppo Antonini shipyards launched the new superyacht builder brand in April with an initial investment of more than €10 million from the Antonini family.
