German builder Blohm+Voss has released images of the first hull in its BV80 semi-custom series in build.

Currently under construction at the builder’s Hamburg shipyard, the initial Eidsgaard design for the series was unveiled at the Monaco Yacht Show in 2014 with the first keel laid in December 2015 after 12 months of detailed engineering.

Since then significant progress has been made with the first three hull sections almost complete and all main components ordered. This quick progress means delivery time has been reduced to just 30 months since the date of contract with final delivery expected in 2018 complete with fully custom interior.

The first semi-custom series in the Blohm+Voss catalogue, the BV80 has a general arrangement with wide appeal but is also highly customisable. As long as deck supports remain intact and windows stay as they are, the BV80 offers total flexibility for how the accommodations are laid out.

Likewise, the new design has a broadly appealing exterior design ideal for re-sale yet still carries forward the Blohm+Voss DNA. The entire yacht also bursts with wow factors, such as an atrium, double height space, fire pits, nightclub area, indoor garden, outdoor cinema, sliding roof in the master cabin, full height glazing and main deck guests accommodations.

The first construction images also come alongside Eidsgaard’s initial interior renderings of the series highlighting the easy customisation of interior spaces across all four decks. Decked out in light wood panelling, cream soft furnishings and showcasing the highly desirable superyacht waterfall, the large, airy saloons look to offer guests plenty of natural light and panoramic views.

First glimpses of the BV80 superyacht also suggest she has some nice features, including a three-storey, glass encased atrium at her centre, reaching up to the bridge deck. The tenders are stowed forward, allowing for a dedicated beach club with a bar and lounge area, which notably has an internal staircase to the main deck so the space can be enjoyed even when underway. Also of note is that living spaces on the BV80 are split fifty-fifty between interior and outdoor areas.

“It’s fantastic to see this stunning yacht beginning to take shape,” said Blohm+Voss CEO Fred van Beers. “The BV80 represents a unique opportunity in today’s market with the highest levels of build quality, short lead time, keen pricing and comprehensive warranty.”
