Damen is set to build the largest yacht support vessel in its history after signing a new 75 metre bespoke project.

The customised in-house design is based on the newly developed YS 7512 model in Damen’s support range and will be the largest ever built by the yard when the vessel is delivered in 2022.

Key numbers include a 12 metre beam and huge volume of 1,900GT, which includes the capacity to store emergency relief support equipment.

Elsewhere, the vessel will feature a helipad and hangar for a D14 value helicopter and will be equipped with a plethora of marine gear, as well as additional tenders and toys.

Accommodation on board will be for a total of 45 people, including crew, guests and “specialist staff”. Wright Maritime Group will supervise the project on behalf of the owner.

Amels and Damen sales director Rob Luijendijk said: “At the time of delivery, she will be the 17th Yacht Support delivered. She will also be the largest to date, which I think continues to show the scalability of the support solution for large superyachts. We are very excited to start construction and can’t wait to see this beautiful yacht support on the water in 2022.”

It comes after Joy Rider, the first hull in Damen’s newly developed range of 45 metre yacht support vessels, was delivered. The vessel is currently attending the Cannes Yachting Festival and will also be debuting at the Monaco Yacht Show later this month.
