Dutch yard Damen Yachting has announced the delivery of the fourth unit from its YS53 model, Rafter. The 53.3-metre support yacht has now departed the yard's facilities in Antalya, Turkey, and is en route to support her owner’s private yachting programme.
Designed as a "purposeful extension" to her owner's existing superyacht fleet, Rafter was developed to provide additional space, support and flexibility for "family experiences, shared moments on the water and operational purpose[s]". Damen Yachting's in-house team is responsible for the complete design of the vessel, from the exterior and naval architecture to the interior design. The latter has been drawn around the owner's personal style and is said to feature influences from Old England.
The YS53 model is renowned for its support capabilities, characterised mostly by an expansive open main deck (more than 200 square metres long), equipped with a 15-tonne crane capable of handling submersibles, large tenders, toys and other heavy-duty equipment. The reinforced deck also allows for touch-and-go helicopter operations.
A wave-slicing axe bow offers comfortable performance in varying sea conditions, while forward-raking windows provide increased visibility and pronounced spray rails protect any sensitive equipment from saltwater. Inside, a volume of 498GT houses accommodation for eight guests and 10 crew, plus the captain.
“From the outset, there was a clear vision for how the owner wanted to use YS53 Rafter and the role she would play within the fleet," explained owner’s representative, Rob Dolling. "Together with Damen Yachting, we were able to translate those wishes into a vessel that is highly functional, personal and closely aligned with the owner’s programme. The collaboration was constructive and efficient throughout the build, which was especially important given the timeframe. It is rewarding to see Rafter ready to support the owner, family and crew exactly as intended.”
Rafter was sold in September 2025 (asking €29,500,000), just a few weeks after the delivery of the third YS53 unit, Emotional. The second unit in the YS53 series, Five Oceans, was also sold during 2025 and was featured in the September 2025 issue of BOAT International.

Jan van Hogerwou, Damen Yachting's commercial executive USA, added: "Seeing the 53-metre Yacht Support Rafter depart Antalya is a proud moment for everyone involved. As the fourth Yacht Support 53 delivered by Damen Yachting, she reflects the versatility of the Yacht Support range within modern superyacht ownership and has been created with a very clear purpose. We are delighted to see her begin her next chapter as part of her owner’s fleet and wish her owner, captain and crew fair winds and following seas.”
According to BOATPro, Damen Yachting has four yacht projects on order or under construction, including a highly secretive 75.2-metre hybrid expedition yacht.
