Westport unveils 52m 172 Endeavour yacht model at FLIBS 2026

US-based shipyard Westport Yachts has taken the opportunity of the 2026 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS) to unveil a new addition to its motor yacht portfolio.

Known as the Westport 172 Endeavour, the 52-metre model has been designed for owners seeking adventure, not expeditions, according to the shipyard, and features ample space for large tenders and a 25-knot top speed - noted to be "around twice the pace of a typical explorer".

The yacht is expected to deliver a cruising speed of 19 knots

MW Yacht Design is behind the yacht's exterior, while the interiors are from the boards of Verge Yacht Design. Both studios collaborated to develop one singular identity for the yacht, characterised by streamlined decks and an ample use of glass.

A standout design feature on board is the extended main deck aft, which provides space for a 12-metre tender. Once the tender is deployed, the deck transforms into a commodious space for guests to dine, relax or be entertained while cruising.

Speaking to BOAT International at the unveiling, Daryl Wakefield, president of Westport Yachts, said: "Many customers are wanting to take a large tender out to the fishing grounds, and they're towing them. The idea was to make this safer and more efficient, give them a platform so that they can carry their tenders out there, put them back in the water, open up the deck space, and they can then have the hotel experience in the place they want."

Other features on board include a large beach club at the water's edge, which provides easy access for both wet and dry activities, in addition to offering vast storage for further tenders alongside dive equipment, water toys and exploration gear. Up top, the sundeck hosts an infinity-edge lap pool, a bar and "wide" lounge areas.

Inside, Verge Yacht Design took inspiration from the natural world for the yacht's interiors, employing details such as a fossil-like light fixture, stone accents and patterns which mimic the seabed. A sculptural central staircase is a focal point, while an expansive galley, dining and saloon boast a palette of sand, stone, sea-glass and slate blue.

Accommodation includes an owner's suite with his-and-hers bathrooms, while elsewhere on board lies a dedicated gym and wellness space.

A statement from the yard read: "She [172 Endeavour] has the polish of a superyacht and the appetite of an adventurer. She was designed as one vision from the first line, with the speed to say yes to whatever's next."

Concluding, Wakefield added: "We are using the mould that has produced 15 boats and all of them are great performers, so it's also a great proven platform."

According to BOATPro data, the shipyard has one superyacht in-build, the 41-metre Westport 4103, scheduled for delivery in 2027. At the start of the year, Westport celebrated the launch of the first unit from its new 41-metre 135 raised pilothouse yacht (RPH) series.
