Organisers Fiera Milano and Nautica Italiana have announced the first details of the upcoming Versilia Yachting Rendezvous.
The inaugural event will take place in Viareggio from May 11-14 with the aim of raising awareness of the potential of the high-end yachting industry.
Speaking at the official announcement earlier this month, Roberto Rettani, president of Fiera Milano, said: “I am convinced that our country must have a prominent trade fair in each field in which it can boast industrial excellence. We are ready to organise an event that is truly unique in this sector.”
Key features will include themed days, focussing on design, art, fashion and gastronomic excellence. The organisers will work closely with the Altagamma Foundation to develop a varied calendar of events spread across the four-day show.
Enrico Rossi, president of the Tuscan Regional Authority, revealed that the local yachting industry comprises 2,900 active businesses that employ 15,000 workers, more than a third of the Italian total, for a combined annual turnover of €1.5billion.
The line-up of yachts at the Versilia Yachting Rendezvous has yet to be confirmed, but the organisers expect to exhibit around 100 boats, which will make up the heart of the show. What’s more, four themed areas spread across the 110,000 square metre site will be dedicated to equipment, marinas, coastal tourism, and superyacht tenders and water toys.
Lamberto Tacoli, president of Nautica Italiana, concluded: “The Versilia Yachting Rendezvous will respond to the need for novelty and innovation in the sector.”
