Fabiani Yacht commences construction on first 24m solar-powered yacht

Italian brand Fabiani Yacht has commenced construction on its first model, named MY 77 Hybrid, at its facilities in Pisa.

Construction of the all-aluminium yacht, which measures 24.4 metres when the aft platform is extended, began on April 2, 2022 and completion is due in summer 2023. It comes after months of intense behind-the-scenes work.

The model has been designed with two key cornerstones in mind: accessibility and eco-focus. Accessibility is achieved via the aft platform, which can be lowered up to one metre below the waterline and raised to sit flush with the flybridge, creating an innovative extending sea terrace as well as an easy way to accommodate wheelchairs, motorcycles, tenders, or small motor vehicles including bikes.

The model will be fitted with solar panels

Sustainability comes from the 110 square meters of solar panels fitted around the yacht. The energy is stored in a “battery park” which accumulates the energy and powers two electric motors. In electric mode, the yacht can cruise for up to 16 hours at between six and eight knots. As a hybrid, it also has two 1900 HP Man V12 diesel engines that allow the yacht to reach a cruising speed of 20 knots. The solar panels, which form a photovoltaic park, can be opened and closed.

The Fabiani Hybrid MY 77 offers fully-customisable interiors, with various accommodation configurations on offer to cater to a wide range of potential buyers. The social area areas are light, bright and airy, with a large main saloon, a galley, a dayhead and a glass staircase leading up to the flybridge.

The flybridge is equipped with table, chairs, sun loungers and there is also a foredeck area with space for sofas and a table.

Interior renderings suggest a contemporary theme

Fabiani has a number of other projects in the works, including a larger Hybrid MY 101 and a more compact Hybrid MY 62. The yard builds on years of experience under the umbrella of the historic Intermare shipyard.
