47m Feadship motor yacht Halcyon emerges from 14-month refit

11 June 2026 • Written by Emily Dawkins

The 46.9-metre Feadship motor yacht Halcyon has been relaunched from her original builder's sheds following a major 14-month rebuild programme.

Originally delivered in 2001 by the Dutch shipyard, Halcyon returned to the yard's facilities in Kaag, the Netherlands, in May 2025 with a substantial refit scheduled. Works planned included a redesign of her stern arrangement, a complete repaint and a series of technical upgrades, though as the modifications progressed, Feadship decided on a broader scope of work to bring the motor yacht up to today's standards.

As such, Halcyon underwent major structural, technical, mechanical and cosmetic improvements - the yard describing her as a "yacht effectively rebuilt from the inside out". Visible changes include a redesigned stern with a new staircase connecting the main deck to the swim platform, a new exterior finish for both her hull and superstructure and a new, adapted mast.

Inside, the bridge was modernised with new equipment and interior modifications, electrical systems throughout the yacht were inspected and upgraded, and new alarm monitoring and power management systems were installed. Her climate control infrastructure was also entirely replaced.

In terms of living areas – which were originally designed by John Munford – the guest accommodation and crew areas also received a revamp, with each cabin refurbished, the marbles throughout restored, new blinds installed and interior finishes renewed.

The engine room and technical spaces underwent a "near complete transformation", according to the yard. The main engines and gearboxes were overhauled, two new generators installed and all critical systems were renewed. Other works included new teak decking across most exterior decks, an overhaul of the steering system and upgrades to diving equipment. The tanks and technical spaces were repainted and the underwater hull coating system was refurbished.

Key specs include an 8.8-metre beam and a draught of 2.8 metres

"When Halcyon arrived, we expected a major refit," said her captain, Joe Gallegos. "As the project developed, it became clear that we had the opportunity to do much more. With a knowledgeable and enthusiastic owner involved, it all came together. What started as a refit became something much closer to a modified new build. The result is a classic Feadship, renewed and ready for years of successful cruising."

Halcyon will now complete final commissioning ahead of her scheduled redelivery this July.
