Essence 82m: ISA Yachts reveals third yacht project in Large Yacht Collection

Italian shipyard and brand of Palumbo Superyachts, ISA Yachts, has unveiled the third superyacht design in its recently launched dedicated design platform, known as the ISA Large Yacht Collection. 

The platform was revealed to the industry in July alongside the first design, the 82-metre Amarcord 82, shortly followed in August by the second design, the 86-metre Amarcord 86, both developed throughout by Italian studio Nuvolari Lenard. Now, the yard has shed light on the third design in the platform: the 82-metre Essence, designed throughout by Barcelona-based Lobanov Studio.

According to the shipyard, the 82-metre design stems from a focus on the relationship between continuity and evolution - where balanced proportions and long-standing solutions meet innovative additions to experiences and life on board. The yacht was born from a "deliberate distance" from current trends, to instead "create a yacht capable of remaining contemporary over the years". 

As such, Essence is characterised by clean lines, "harmonious" proportions, sculpted surfaces and three-dimensional elements to give a strong visual identity without compromising balance.

“When designing Essence, we did not want to follow a trend," explained studio founder Igor Lobanov. "Trends inevitably belong to a particular moment in time, and our objective was exactly the opposite: to create a yacht capable of remaining contemporary over the years. In ten years’ time, I would like Essence to look just as relevant as it does today. To achieve this balance, we worked with strong, recognisable proportions, introducing innovation through the surfaces, the details and the way the spaces are experienced."

The yacht spans a 12.8-metre beam, has a gross tonnage of approximately 2,250GT and is packed with amenities normally associated with yachts of 90 or 100 metres, the yard highlighted. Among the features is a touch-and-go helipad conceived to be fully operational, a lift connecting all decks up to the sundeck and extensive storage capacity for tenders and water toys, including a garage capable of accommodating two 10-metre tenders, with the possibility of carrying a third seven-metre crew tender.

At the stern, a beach club opens across 144 square metres thanks to two large fold-down side terraces, while the large pool of the main deck above filters natural light into the area via its transparent bottom. 

In terms of accommodation, the owner's suite is situated in the traditional forward position on the upper deck, ensuring privacy and open views towards the horizon. However, here the distribution of spaces is described as unconventional; instead of a central corridor, access to the other areas is provided through a side passage overlooking the exterior for a constant visual connection with the sea.

The same unconventional approach is taken on the bridge deck above, where the aft is dedicated entirely to wellbeing, with a gym, sauna, massage area, shower and pool, rather than a traditional lounge. The onboard layout provides seven cabins for 12 guests, as well as accommodation for a crew of 21. 

Power is from two 2,240 kW MTU engines, expected to deliver a maximum speed of 17 knots and a cruising speed of 14 knots, while the yacht's estimated range is approximately 6,200 nautical miles at 12 knots. Two pairs of non-retractable stabiliser fins, including zero-speed stabilisation, ensure high levels of comfort both underway and at anchor. Construction is in steel and aluminium, with naval architecture developed in-house by the shipyard.

According to BOATPro, ISA Yachts has 15 superyachts currently on order or under development, including its 79.8-metre flagship superyacht, Belita, which was launched from its facilities in Ancona last week.
