31m explorer Just4Us begins nine-month transformation at KRM

29 November 2022 • Written by Holly Overton

The 31 metre Newcastle explorer yacht Just4Us has been hauled out at KRM Refit & Repair for a comprehensive refit that will see her hull extended by four metres.

Work on the US-built explorer is expected to take nine months and will include an extension and redesign of the transom area as well as a complete rebuild of her interiors. Other major changes will include a redesigned flybridge deck and enlarging of the lower deck cabin portholes to allow more natural light to filter into the lower deck.

On the technical side, all of the electric infrastructure and gensets will be replaced, while her two CAT 4306 engines and hydraulic systems will be overhauled alongside the bow thrusters and windlasses.

The installation of new electric zero-speed stabilisers completes the scope of work.

Just4Us was built by Newcastle Marine in 2001 and sports a trawler-style profile with a superstructure positioned aft. She joins Sanlorenzo Santa Anna B, which checked in for a winter refit period at the Turkish shipyard, and the 29 metre Heesen motor yacht Newal which is mid-way through an extensive refit after lying unattended in a marina for two years.
