Malcolm McKeon Yacht Design Reveals 18 Metre Superyacht Chase Boat

Malcolm McKeon Yacht Design has collaborated with Norwegian powerboat builder Windy to present an 18.12 metre superyacht chase boat.

The first unit of the Windy SLR 60 was commissioned by an experienced superyacht owner who is already working with MMYD on the in-build superyacht MM597. The superyacht is currently underway at Royal Huisman.

The SLR 60 has been designed to mirror the style of the mothership with a “contemporary and elegant design”. Key features include a large swim platform aft of the guest area and bar and a full height windscreen. Studio Liaigre meanwhile has been appointed to pen the interior design.

Described as the “ultimate chase boat for long distance excursions”, the SLR 60 is capable of undertaking diving and fishing expeditions and “traversing unprotected and open passages of water with ease”.

Sea trials of the first unit revealed that the model is “extremely capable in all conditions”, the builder said, with the flared bow and hull chines “keeping the boat as dry as possible”.

Elsewhere, the chase boat has a range of 850 nautical miles at 25 knots and a top speed of 44 knots.
