Marcello Maggi leads Wider takeover

The Italian shipyard Wider has been acquired by the Monaco based company Nautical Hybrid Tech, along with Zepter Group and Hopafi Holding Srl.

The three partners, led by Marcello Maggi, have acquired complete ownership of Wider and promised the move would result in “a new era” for the company.

Wider will now be led by Marcello Maggi as president and sales and marketing director

Maggi, who previously co-founded ISA Yachts, will become president and sales marketing director of the Italian company but will remain based in Monaco.

Maggi has already outlined key ambitions for Wider, such as listing the company on the stock exchange “within three years” and “boosting its leadership in green energy yachting.”

Maggi added that the shipyard would be “focusing on quality and custom-built hybrid motor yachts.”

Cecilia was delivered last year and picked up a Triton at this year's World Superyacht Awards

“One of the main reasons for proceeding with the acquisition was the incredibly high level of management team and staff, besides the extraordinary performance of the yachts in terms of comfort, noise, vibration and their eco-friendly soul," he added.

The news comes after the yard delivered the 50 metre superyacht Cecilia last year. The yacht went on to scoop a World Superyacht Award in London earlier this year.
