German shipyard Mavea Yachts has unveiled a brand new, sustainably focused luxury 24 metre catamaran model called the SLYDER 80.

Working in collaboration with German yacht designer Matthias Krenz, the SLYDER 80 will harness a mix of solar and electric power to bring about a “fast, fun, luxurious, spacious and future-proof catamaran," according to Markus Kuhner, managing director at Mavea Yachts.

Built in composite with a beam of almost eleven metres, the Slyder 80 allows for generous living spaces with a headroom of over two metres. A 38 square metre main saloon welcomes guests as they step on board, with accommodation for up to eight guests.

Performance-wise, the model features a 215 square metre mainsail with three reefs and a pair of 70 - 100 kW electric motors with shaft drive. It will be capable of reaching top speeds of ten knots under power and in excess of 24 knots under sail.

According to her builder, the SLYDER 80 combines the elegance of a Cafe Racer monohull with the performance and space of a luxury catamaran.

"Slyder catamarans allow even small crews to sail safely and easily, deliver the highest seaworthiness and quality, as well as provide an ambience in which to feel good at sea.” Continued Kuhner.

“The SLYDER 80 is no exception, plus it has the "Sports-Fly" (SLY-FLY). This was specifically developed for this model and offers space and safety, so giving fellow sailors the opportunity to participate in an exhilarating sailing experience."

The first hull in the series is due for completion in 2024, and is currently listed for sale with Ocean Independence.
