Oneiric: Rossinavi unveils solar-powered 44 metre luxury catamaran concept

6 June 2022 • Written by Katia Damborsky

Powered by three levels of solar panels for completely transmission-free cruising, a new 44 metre catamaran concept named Oneiric has been revealed by Italian yard Rossinavi.

The yacht’s design comes from the esteemed Zaha Hadid Architects. It will be built in aluminium and fitted with a battery pack that will enable the yacht to cruise 100% of the time in full-electric mode during daily cruising and 70% of the time in full-electric mode during transatlantic crossings.

The swim platform makes full use of the yacht's 13.7 metre beam

Oneiric will feature a control centre powered by artificial intelligence that will be able to monitor energy consumption and battery status to offer the most sustainable solutions in real-time.

The yacht aims to save approximately 40 tonnes of CO2 emissions compared to a conventional yacht.

In an innovative move, the yacht’s solar-powered battery pack is continually charged during daylight hours, meaning that the energy generated can be repurposed for on-shore needs if necessary.

As well as her eco-conscious energy system, the yacht has a catamaran design that naturally offers a better hydrodynamic efficiency thanks to its weight distribution and length-to-width ratio.

The yacht’s exterior design has been inspired by the ‘fluidity and dynamism of ocean waves’, according to the yard. Sinuous lines and reflective surfaces promote a seamless connection between the indoor and outdoor world, and curving lines across the interior create a sense of serenity onboard.

Accommodation is offered in a total of five cabins, with a generous owner’s suite that has 180-degree views with skylights in the overhead.

Meanwhile, an interconnecting interior offers multiple lounges and dining areas, as well as a media room with all the latest entertainment technology.

Oneiric has been designed to offer maximum efficiency

The yacht’s cockpit features a patio with walls and a ceiling which are slightly curved to create an “organic continuity” that offers sweeping vistas across the water.

This area connects to the swim platform, which has a direct connection to the water with no bulkheads or other obstructions.

Construction-wise, Rossinavi claims that many materials that have been chosen are recycled or recyclable to ensure a more sustainable build.

In full-electric mode, Oneiric is capable of totally silent operations. In addition, the yacht benefits from the effects of Rossinavi Zero Noise technology that isolates all noise on board from the original source. This innovation has been installed on board all Rossinavi yachts for several years.
