Italian yard Otam has delivered its fastest ever motor yacht capable of reaching a top speed of 60 knots.
The 20 metre record-breaking Otam 65 HT hull features a new one-off design penned by Francesco Guida Design, powered by two 2,000hp engines.
Gian Franco Zanoni, CEO of OTAM, said: “OTAM has stretched its limits by setting the fastest speed ever achieved, reaching a maximum speed of 60 knots and a cruising speed of 50 knots with a 21-degree deadrise at the stern, ensuring unparalleled navigation and yacht handling."
The fully-custom interiors were conceived by Francesco Guida Design and are inspired by private jets, the yard said. “The contamination occurred naturally and immediately, because the extreme performance and shape of the vessel bring to mind a fast vector that rapidly moves from one position to another, reaching distant, hidden locations," said Guida. Exposed carbon features throughout contrasted by white leathers and oak.
Carbon fibre has also been used extensively in the hardtop, beach platform, decks and rigging to reduce weight and maximise performance. "This model achieves considerably higher fuel efficiency than other boats of the same size currently available on the market, despite the speed for which our yachts are known worldwide," said Zanoni.
Currently in build at the Italian yard is the new OTAM 70 which will make its debut in 2021.
