Oyster Yachts Begins Production on First 885 GT Sailing Yacht

11 November 2020

Oyster Yachts has begun production on its first 27.08 metre 885 GT sailing yacht model.

The inspiration for the new model came from a long-term Oyster owner who wanted to combine luxury and performance capability on a sailing yacht.

Described by the yard as a “Grand Tourer of the oceans”, the 885 GT features performance orientated yacht design inspired by the “classic automobiles of the 1950s,” Oyster said.

Designed for long periods of onboard living, the 885 GT is available in two colour schemes and sports quintessential Oyster design details, such as a low-profile deck saloon, and dark, wraparound windows.

Accommodation is for eight guests in three guest cabins aft and one forward. An additional two crew cabins sit forward of the galley.

Elsewhere, the yacht boasts a number of performance-oriented details including a custom T-keel cast bronze fin and lead bulb and light-cored joinery to reduce weight. A taller carbon rig and SCR rigging offers further weight savings and result in an increased sail area.
