British yard Princess Yachts has announced that the first unit from its new X90 series has successfully completed sea trials.
The 27.1-metre yacht was launched in May from the shipyard’s South Yard facility in Plymouth, UK. Following her delivery this summer, she is scheduled to make her global debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September.

The model was first unveiled at the 2024 Cannes Yachting Festival as the latest addition to the yard's X Class range – positioned between the 24.3-metre X80 and flagship X95 Vista – though it stands out from other yachts in the range with its low, open-plan "beach club-style" cockpit. Designed with a glass transom balustrade, fold-down balconies to port and starboard and a low-level arrangement, the space extends outwards and provides 180-degree views, while offering both open and shaded areas.
In another first for the shipyard, the X90 features curved patio doors that connect the cockpit to the main saloon and, when opened, turn the formal, 10-person dining table al fresco.
A defining feature of the model is its "Super Flybridge", which features the range's signature skylounge, generous open-air flybridge deck and sliding doors that lead to the enclosed primary helm station. In its elevated position, the flybridge helm station frees up space on the main deck, creating a greater sense of openness for guests below. The skylounge itself offers generous seating and panoramic glazing, while the aft flybridge can be configured with a spa bath, bar, loose furniture or tender storage with a crane.
The main deck offers bright and sociable living spaces, with owners able to choose between an open galley with a breakfast bar or a fully enclosed arrangement. As seen in the X95, the entire main deck remains on a single level, from the saloon to the owner's suite - which itself can feature direct access to a private foredeck terrace.
Below deck, accommodation comprises three en-suite guest cabins, though a five-cabin layout is also available, with four guest cabins on the lower deck in addition to the owner's suite above. Crew accommodation is positioned forward and includes up to three crew cabins.
In terms of tech, the X90 also introduces a new hull form for Princess Yachts: the Princess Hybrid Progressive-Planing (H.P.P.) hull, which has been developed in partnership with British naval architecture firm Olesinski. The hull has been engineered to optimise performance across all speeds, balancing efficient low-speed cruising with high-speed planing capabilities.
As such, the X90 is said by the yard to require 10 per cent less power above 16 knots than the Princess Y85, while matching the model's fuel usage below 10 knots despite being approximately 18 tonnes heavier.
According to the shipyard, seven units had already been sold ahead of the yacht's launch in May, with a further four yachts currently in build.
Exclusive data from BOATPro indicates Princess Yachts has 16 yachts on order or currently under construction.
