Following an extensive refit and seven-metre extension, the first renderings of the 45-metre Alpha Marine yacht Luis Lima (formerly the 38.1-metre Proton) have been released by Yachtbox and Baran Akalın Yacht Design. Delivered in 1992, Luis Lima has spent the past six years in disuse in Greece, with the yacht expected to be relaunched from the yard's Izmir site in late 2026.
The most integral change is structural, with Luis Lima extended by seven metres to accommodate a 90-square-metre beach club. One of "the most coveted spaces on board", the beach club has been designed with large fold-down balconies and installed with a Jacuzzi, integrated lounge and dining areas and a rotatable television that disappears into the floor.
Baran Akalın is responsible for exterior and interior design, while naval architecture is owed to Alfa Marine Design. According to Baran, the only thing that will remain the same on board Luis Lima is the engine room – though the engines are also being upgraded. Her new Pop-Art interiors will house a seven-metre swimming pool, a four-person elevator, a service lift, a bar on each deck and various entertainment areas, all designed to deliver a "lively and luxurious onboard experience".
Rare for a 45-metre build, Luis Lima will come with two spacious saloons, five guest cabins and a full wellness centre with a sauna. Guests will also find a walk-through wine cellar on the lower deck, complete with "dramatic atmosphere".
Serving as the owner's deck, the upper deck includes a captain’s bridge at the bow, with a Jacuzzi and forward seating area just ahead. A bar, liquor cabinet, digital game table and pro-grade storage furnish the owner's saloon, while the suite features a bathroom with integrated bathtub and his-and-hers, walk-in wardrobe.
From the saloon, the owner can access their private garden terrace, complete with greenery, convertible coffee tables and more game tables.
Finally, the flydeck has been reimagined with a third jacuzzi (surrounded by sunpads) and lounge seating. Midship is a fully-equipped service area with counters, fridges and access to the dumbwaiter. At the stern is an aft-facing bar, "purpose-designed for watching F1 races when docked in Monaco".
This area also features a large oval dining table, drop-down ceiling television and a lounge zone, designed to preserve 360-degree panoramic views.
Luis Lima can accommodate 10 guests and nine crew. Her original exterior was by Pavratos, while interiors were styled by N. Papathomas.
Key specs include an eight-metre beam and a draft of 2.6 metres.
