Riva launches hull two of 130 Bellissima series

30 January 2023 • Written by Katia Damborsky

Italian shipyard Riva, a brand of Ferretti Group, has launched the second unit in its 130 Bellissima series. The 40-metre superyacht was commissioned for a European owner and is one of the first projects to hit the water at Riva's newly-expanded La Spezia site.

The yacht marks the largest model in the yard's flybridge series and features a number of innovations designed to merge performance with volume. A widebody design, eight-metre beam and three full-size decks provide generous living spaces, while a planing hull and a GT under 300 keep this model practical and fast.

Design comes from Mauro Micheli and Sergio Beretta, founders of Officina Italiana Design, who worked in partnership with the Group's Product Strategy Committee led by Piero Ferrari and the Ferretti Group Engineering Department.

The first hull hit the water in July

Officina Italiana Design is the mastermind behind the Riva models of the last 27 years, and the Bellissima builds on the classic Riva look with some contemporary additions. A raked windshield, bands of glazing and glass fashion plates carve out the yacht's profile, with elements of steel and carbon fibre integrated into the exterior.

The large windows allow plenty of light into the interior, with features including a main deck lounge with a 270-degree panoramic view and a head height of over two metres. The accommodation configuration includes a main deck master suite and a further four cabins on the lower deck with a further three crew cabins.

“The name Bellissima perfectly expresses the spirit of this boat, a true work of art that has been a huge success on all four continents,” said Ferretti Group CEO Alberto Galassi. “With her sporty but at the same time extremely elegant lines, Riva 130 Bellissima is the dream yacht of every owner in search of outstanding cruising performance combined with the feeling of being at home.”

He added: “The success this model is reporting is a credit to Riva's commitment to always designing boats that navigate both in legend and in the future.”

The launch comes at a busy time for Riva with its La Spezia facilities having recently finished a major expansion and architectural restyling. The yard now extends over a total surface area of more than 39,000 square metres, of which 17,000 is under cover. The facility also includes three buildings containing 18 assembly stations — plus six equipped for testing — a 300-tonne travel lift and two of the largest advanced technology painting systems in Europe.

The launch of the second 130 Bellissima also coincided with the inauguration of Riva's new on-site facility dedicated to owner hospitality, which benefits from 26 berths and two covered docks.
