Dutch yard Royal Hakvoort has signed the contract for a 70.1-metre yacht designed for "long-range odysseys". Known only as Project YN258, this will be the largest Royal Hakvoort project in history (regarding both length and gross tonnage), eclipsing former flagship Asia by 9.1 metres and 245GT.
An all-Dutch team has been selected for the record-breaking build, with long-standing collaborators Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design heading design and Diana Yacht Design behind the naval architecture. Project YN258 was sold in cooperation with 26 North Yachts as the build broker and Arrow Monaco as the client's new build management company.
Construction on the project will begin immediately, with delivery scheduled for 2029. The work will be undertaken at Royal Hakvoort's facilities in Monnickendam, the Netherlands.
According to the yard, Project YN258 will feature a "carefully considered balance" of indoor and outdoor spaces, including a touch-and-go helipad, a sports court and a swimming pool. Accommodation will be for up to 14 guests across seven cabins, including two owners' suites – one on the bridge deck and the other with an apartment spanning the entire owners' deck.
Built for an owner with a "deep commitment to crew wellbeing", Project YN258 will also offer quarters for 20 staff, including a spacious mess hall, dedicated gym and technical spaces that have been optimised for accessibility during extended voyages.
"This project is another milestone in the history of Royal Hakvoort," said yard director Klaas Hakvoort. "[Project YN258] will guarantee the shipyard work until late 2029 and will provide work for around 300 people, either directly employed shipyard staff or through subcontractors. We thank the client for putting his trust in our shipyard."
Confirmed specs include an 11.6-metre beam and a volume of 1,513GT.
