Dutch shipyard Steeler Yachts has announced that the second unit from its Ocean Explorer 85 yacht series, Moss, has successfully completed her first round of sea trials. The 26-metre new build will now undergo offshore testing ahead of final commissioning and handover preparations for a scheduled delivery at the end of the month.
Moss hit the water at the end of January, marking the first yacht to be finalised entirely in the shipyard's Meppel facilities following its acquisition of Holterman Shipyard in 2024. Following delivery, she is expected to make her maiden voyage towards the Indian Ocean, joining the first unit from the series, Aviso, on the water, which was delivered last year as Steeler Yachts' flagship.
“Moss is the first project being finalised in the Steeler facilities in Meppel, following the acquisition of the Holterman Shipyard in 2024," explained yard and project manager of Moss, Tim Wedzinga. "Working with the knowledge and experience of two shipyards combined has turned into a great adventure, resulting in a yacht we are truly proud of today."
He continued: "Together with the owner's team and their experience in interior design, Moss became a true explorer with a high-quality superyacht interior. The sea trials went very well, and she moves elegantly and confidently through the water.”
Dutch designer Edwin van der Mark is responsible for the model's original design, with naval architecture developed by Studio Delta, a studio known for their previous work with Vanquish Yachts.
According to the shipyard, the design of the 26-metre was developed in close collaboration with her owner, who will also captain the yacht. As a result, Moss has been completely tailored to "hands-on, long-distance cruising" and features a full custom 148GT interior designed by Kees Marcelis, which combines functionality with comfort for extended periods on board.
The shipyard has now launched three new builds from the line to date, with a second Ocean Explorer 72 also recently commissioned and a 67 in production, the latter of which will be on display at the 2026 Cannes Yachting Festival.
Key numbers include a beam of 6.6 metres and a shallow draught of 1.7 metres. Moss has been constructed in accordance with CE-A standards and fully complies with Malta sCYC 2024 flag requirements, with an unrestricted navigation notation.
Steeler Yachts also announced the appointment of HMY Yacht Sales as its sales and marketing partner for North America, Central America and the Caribbean earlier this month.
